NuStep Step Flashing
The goal was to create step flashing that was quicker, easier and safer to install—to bring efficiencies to the job site. NuStep succeeded!
The NuStep patented, HDPE step flashing is lightweight, non-corrosive, and pliable making it safer on and off the roof—reducing on-the-job hazards and making it easier to install than traditional metal flashing. Its pliability allows for integration under siding and shingles, as well as against chimneys and dormers. And, NuStep step flashing excels in all weather conditions and is tested against the highest standards in the industry.
8 Reasons to Choose NuStep Step Flashing
SAFETY. NuStep is safer than traditional metal flashing—no tin snips, gloves or sharp edges.
HIGHLY PLIABLE. Adapts to any bend, corner, or angle: under siding and shingles and against chimneys and dormers.
LIGHTWEIGHT. NuStep is 75% lighter than traditional step flashing.
FAST & EFFICIENT. Installation time is reduced, efficiency increased, due to its lighter weight and pliable material.
DURABILITY. Equals or exceeds metal for puncture puncture-resistant material.
WEATHERPROOF. Protects against even the harshest elements.
2 COLORS, ONE ON EACH SIDE. Choose the side that complements your project’s siding/shingle colors.

Inventing NuStep
NuStep was developed by a long-time roofer and founder/owner of SlateTec™, the natural slate installation method that reduces slate roof weight up to 40%. He discovered the same interlayment material used in his slate installation system had the potential to be turned into step flashing for sloped roof applications.
Early prototypes were provided to contractors and their crews to test the product. It was confirmed…NuStep flashing was found to be easier to work with, and quicker and safer to install than metal flashing.
In 2018, NuStep received a utility patent and officially launched in the Spring of 2019.
NuStep vs Metal Step Flashing
In addition to a product that is faster and safer, NuStep has important benefits over traditional metal step flashing. NuStep is 75% lighter, making it easier to carry and safer to install on the roof. Each piece has two colors to blend in with your project’s siding or shingles. And, every piece of NuStep is guaranteed to meet ICC certification.

Testing & Certifications
Meets American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards
NuStep’s flashing technology is a polymer membrane that is tested using the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.
Every production run is tested for tear, impact, tensile, and puncture resistance as well as UV exposure and thermal behavior. This rigorous testing ensures that each piece is prepared for the hail storms and heat waves that a roof will face.
