Pro shop receives Vermont genuine slate re-roof using lightweight slate installation method
The aging slate roof atop the Pro Shop at the Blue Mound Golf & Country Club needed replacement. Millen Roofing Company was chosen as the roofing contractor for the slate re-roof project.
Greenstone Slate Company’s Non-weathering Mottled Green / Purple slate was selected as a match for the other slate roofs on the property which dates back more than 100 years. Greenstone Vermont slate has all the physical characteristics of the best quality slate available anywhere in the world. It is S-1 rated and comes with a 100-year slate warranty.
The SlateTec lightweight installation method was used to install the 44 squares of 12″ random-width slates on the Pro Shop. SlateTec’s lightweight genuine slate roof system is a great solution for slate re-roof projects—even historical roof restorations that may have structural obstacles and a certain aesthetic to maintain—because of its innovative installation approach which can reduce the weight of a genuine slate roof to under six pounds per square foot.
This roof features extensive use of copper in flashing and gutters. Copper is frequently the choice with slate for its longevity and appearance.
