Historic New Hampshire church rebuilt after being destroyed by fire receives Greenstone Slate® genuine Vermont slate roof

When Jon Hill, of Greenstone Slate Company, saw the news about the deliberately-set fire that destroyed the historic First Baptist Church in Lebanon, NH, he knew he wanted to help with the rebuild. He contacted church representatives and offered to donate the slate and installation materials for a brand-new genuine slate roof.

The church, although still under construction, can now be seen with its genuine Vermont slate roof. The slate roof was installed using the SlateTec™ lightweight installation method by Vermont roofing contractor Premier Roof Solutions. SlateTec™ is an innovative approach to installing a genuine slate roof that reduces overall roof weight by 40%.

The Greenstone Slate Company donated the 12″x8″ Vermont Strata Gray slates and all installation materials. The Standard Grade Rough Texture slates were split at thicknesses between 1/4” to 3/8”. Standard Grade Rough Texture slates have a surface appearance of Heavy Grade slate but are thinner and are often used with our lightweight genuine slate installation methods.

The First Baptist Church is hoping to reopen later this year.
