Vermont Gray Black slate with copper drip edges installed on Vermont garage using SlateTec installation method
Greenstone’s Vermont Gray Black (Briar Hill) was selected by a Vermont Homeowner for their garage roofing project. Vermont Gray Black, which is drawn from the Briar Hill Quarries, is one of the most commonly selected slate colors because of its traditional slate color appearance and is selected for not just residential but also commercial and institutional slate roofs. The majority of the slates will retain their uniform gray-black appearance but a small 4-6% will exhibit slight signs of weathering after 12-18 months of exposure.
Although generally installed by roofing contractors, the homeowner chose to install the 12″ x random-width, standard-grade slates himself using the SlateTec installation method. SlateTec is an innovative approach to installing a genuine slate roof that reduces overall roof weight by 40%. SlateTec makes a slate roof a competitive upgrade for worn-out cedar shake and even asphalt roofs because no extra structural support is needed in most cases. Learn more about SlateTec.
